About
MMHS
MMHS was founded in 2022 by Lucero Steele, an independent Marriage & Family Therapist. The mission of MMHS is to provide comprehensive, culturally responsive mental health services to historically underserved and marginalized communities, with a focus on Black, Brown, and other communities of color, as well as individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We also recognize the unique mental health needs of immigrants, refugees, LGBTQ+, and other minority populations in Madison, WI, and surrounding areas.

MMHS specializes in working systemically with children, adults, and families. We understand the importance of viewing individuals in the context of their environment honoring the intersections of culture, spiritual beliefs, identity, support systems, needs, goals, and strengths.

MMHS is deeply committed to working with people from all walks of life and values the diverse perspectives and lived experiences that shape an individual’s health and well-being.
Lucero Steele
Marriage & Family Therapist
Born in Mexico City and deeply proud of her culture, Lucero has always been drawn to a career that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives, a passion evident from a young age when she was affectionately nicknamed “la licenciada.” Over the years, clients from a variety of work settings shared their personal stories with her, placing their trust in her, and it was through these connections that she discovered her true calling in the field of mental health.

Lucero has served in various professional roles, including community wraparound services, in-home family therapy, outpatient clinic settings, hospital settings, and as an adjunct professor in a Marriage & Family Therapy program.

As a bilingual and bicultural therapist serving the greater Madison area, Lucero is committed to the well-being of all her clients. She goes above and beyond to meet their unique needs, providing culturally responsive and compassionate care.
She is deeply dedicated to her clients and works diligently to help them discover the answers and healing they are seeking.
